Reinstalling Microsoft Edge Browser in Windows 10

  1. Close Microsoft Edge browser if running.
  2. Open File Explorer then click View, then check the Hidden items section to display the hidden folder. This is necessary because the AppData folder is by default hidden by the system.
  3. Open folder: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages
  4. Scroll down then click on Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe then Delete. Click Yes. Length of removal may 10-15 minutes.
  5. If the confirmation appears “Do you want to permanently delete this folder? The folder contains the items containing names are too long for the Recycle Bin “click Yes.
  6. If you get the following message, click Yes, but if still can’t, click Skip.
  7. Close all running apps then restart your PC.
  8. Search PowerShell then click Windows PowerShell.
  9. Copy and paste cd C:\users\yourusername (Replace “yourusername” with your actual user name of your account)
  10. Copy and paste Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose} then Enter.
  11. After command is executed successfully, you will see “Operation completed for” message.
  12. Restart your PC.
