How to Add a Game to Games List in the Xbox App

Pin to Start

  1. Go to Start > Xbox > My games and select the plus symbol.

  2. If your game isn’t listed, it probably isn’t pinned to your Start menu. Go to Start > All apps, right-click the game and select Pin to Start.
  3. In the Xbox app, select the Refresh button, then select the plus symbol. Choose your game, then select Add selected games.

Add a shortcut

  1.  Go to Start > Xbox > My games and select Add a game from your PC. If your game isn’t listed and you don’t want to add it to your Start menu, add a shortcut instead.
  2. Go to Start > File Explorer and enter “%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs” in the address bar, then press Enter.
  3.  In the Programs folder, right-click an empty space and select New, then select Shortcut and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Open the Xbox app and select the refresh button, then select the plus symbol. Choose your game, then select Add selected games.

How to Change Quality Settings for Game Clips

  1. Go to Start > Xbox app > Settings > Game DVR > Video encoding > Video quality.
  2. By default, game clips are recorded at 10mbps at 1080p and 4.5mbps at 720p. If you change the video quality to High, your game clips will be recorded at 20mbps at 1080p and 9mbps at 720p.
  3. The frame rate for all game clips is 30 frames per second.  Clips will be recorded at the resolution specified in the game, up to 1080p. For games played at a higher resolution, game clips will be scaled down to 1080p.

How to Create or Edit an Avatar on your PC

First, you’ll need to get the Xbox Avatars app for Windows 10. Go to the Store and search for “Xbox Avatars”. Once the app is installed, make sure you sign in with the same account you use to sign in to Xbox.

  • If you’re new to avatars, pick an avatar to start customizing.
  • Select one of the avatars on the screen, or select Shuffle until you find one you like. Then change your avatar’s features, clothes, and accessories until it looks just the way you want it to and select Save.
  • If you already have an avatar, it’ll show up in the app–just make your changes to it and select Save.Or go to Settings > Create new avatar to start over from scratch (you’ll lose your old avatar if you save the new one).

  1. Make sure you’re connected to the Internet.
  2. Go to Xbox.com and sign in there to make sure the Xbox service is up and running and you don’t have any issues with your account.
  3. On your PC, go to Start > Settings > Time & language. Under Date and time, make sure the Set time automatically setting is turned on.
  4. If none of the other options work, go to Start > Settings > Accounts and find the Microsoft account you used to sign in to the Xbox app, and select Remove. Then go back to the Xbox app and sign in with the Microsoft account you just removed.

  3. Some games block the Windows logo key, but you can create your own keyboard shortcuts for Game bar. Go to Start > Xbox > Settings > Game DVR > Keyboard shortcuts to get started. If the new shortcuts don’t work, the game might be blocking all keys, and you won’t be able to use Game bar.

Hardware Requirements for Game Streaming

  1. Processor: At least 1.5 GHz
  2. RAM: At least 4 GB
  3. Video card: Needs to support hardware H.264 video decoding
  4. Network: A wired Ethernet connection works best for game streaming
  5. For a wireless connection: An 802.11 N or newer wireless adapter
  6. Other: An Xbox One or Xbox 360 controller

Get your Game bar on

When you do or see something awesome while playing a game, press the Windows logo key      Windows logo key icon + G on your keyboard to open Game bar. To start a new recording, select Start recording (select it again to stop). To take a picture, select Screenshot.

If you want to record the last 30 seconds of your game, select Settings and select Record game in the background. To make a clip, play some more, then open Game bar and select Record that. Done!

  4. Some games block the Windows logo key, but you can create keyboard shortcuts for Game bar that don’t include it.  Go to Start > Xbox > Settings > Game DVR > Keyboard shortcuts to get started. If the new shortcuts don’t work, the game might be blocking all keys, and you won’t be able to use Game bar.

How to Stream Games from your Xbox

1. Check your hardware

First, make sure your PC meets the hardware requirements for game streaming. You’ll need at least a 1.5 GHz multicore processor, 4 GB of RAM or more, and an Xbox One console and a controller.

A wired Ethernet connection works best for streaming games. If possible, connect both your PC and your Xbox One to your router using network cables. For a wireless connection, use an 802.11 N or newer wireless adapter.

2. Turn on streaming

On your Xbox One, go to Settings > Preferences. Under System & App, select Allow game streaming to other devices.

Next, under SmartGlass Connections, select From any SmartGlass device to allow anyone who’s connected to your home network to stream games. To limit streaming to only a few people, select Only from profiles signed in on this Xbox .

3. Make the connection

Check to make sure your Xbox One is turned on and that you’re signed in with the same account you use to sign in to your PC. Then go to your PC, select the Start Start button icon button, select Xbox         Image of Xbox logo      > Connect, and then select your Xbox to connect to it. (To find the name of your console, go to Settings > System on your Xbox One.) The Xbox app will connect to your Xbox One automatically when it’s turned on.

How to get one

We’ll create a gamertag for you the first time you sign in to the Xbox app. Select the Start Start icon button, then select Xbox           Image of Xbox logo       .

If you don’t like your gamertag, go ahead and change it once for free. Open the Xbox app and select it to open your profile. Then go to Customize > Change gamertag and follow the instructions.

If you already have a gamertag, sign in to the Xbox app with the same account you use to sign in to your Xbox. That way, your game history, friends, achievements, and activity will be waiting for you in the Xbox app.

  1. I have been playing Microsoft Jackpot in the Solitaire collection for weeks. It has become twitchy, starts and stops and will often crash. I would love some help, as I have liked this game…

  2. In Microsoft jigsaw I always had the method of picking up and moving a tile by using the curser and the left action bar. Now it does not work and I have to use the arrows to move the symbol over the tile, press the spacebar, and then move the tile. This is not acceptable as it is very slow. Please advise me on how to reinstall the game or fix the loss of the curser-tile movement. If not, I will quit the game.

  3. I have to remove and reinstall my “Alphajax” on my window 10.
    It appears that although I can sign on to my account, I cannot retrieve any of the previous games.

    Keep telling me to reset my privacy setting in Xbox so I can play online.

  6. There appear to be ad (Advertisement programs) when whenever I’m in the World Solitaire Tour. Each time I click the “PLAY!” button on a Challenge #something, I end up seeing a blank white screen, where an ad is supposed to show up but not showing up at all, forcing me to close the game down and start again. But it continues to be a repeating problem, thus frustrating me.

    I go to the store but it says it is already installed, I try choosing play from there and get the same message.     • If you installed your game from Microsoft Store
      1. Press the Windows button on your device or keyboard, or select the Windows icon in the lower-left corner of the main screen.
      2. Select All apps, and then find your game in the list.
      3. Right-click the game tile, and then select Uninstall.
      4. Follow the steps to uninstall the game.
      5. To reinstall your game, open the Store app, and then select the profile button.
      6. Select My Library.
      7. Locate your game in the list of available downloads, and then select the download icon to the right.
      8. Once your game has been reinstalled, it will be available in the list of apps.

      If you installed your game from another location
      1. Press the Windows button on your device or keyboard, or select the Windows icon in the lower-left corner of the main screen.
      2. Select Settings, and then in the search bar, type “Programs and features.”
      3. Select Programs and Features from the search results.
      4. Highlight your game in the list of available programs and apps.
      5. If your game supports repair, Repair will appear as an option above the list of games. Select this option to access the in-game repair process.
      6. Alternatively, some games support repair via the Uninstall/Change options. If you don’t see “Repair,” select Uninstall or Change from the available options and check to see if the game supports repair.
      7. Note If there is no repair option available, check that you have backed up any in-game settings before continuing to uninstall and reinstall the game. Also make sure you have the media that you originally installed the game from, as you’ll need it to reinstall.

  12. If i pay for the monthly xbox live, can i play any of the 100 games that are offered on PC, I don`t actually own a Xbox 🙂 🙂
